What You Miss When Working for Yourself!

Everyone in my office is armed and potentially dangerous. And I love them for it! The following video could have been taped at my current employer.

A Little Geeky Humor

These were being forwarded around my office on Friday:

"There are 10 kinds of people. Those who understand binary and those who don't."

"Programming is like sex: One mistake and you have to support it for the rest of your life."

Well-Aged Twizzlers

About a year ago, I made an impulse purchase: a huge tub of Twizzlers. I am not sure what I thought I would do with so many of them, but I bought it anyways. I am not a big candy eater, so I gave them to all of my guests. Unfortunately, the total quantity in the tub hasn't diminished much. The other thing was that they were really fresh when I purchased them. Which normally is a good quality in food. But Twizzlers that are fresh have the texture more of a gummy bear.

Many Thanks to Lullabot!

Lullabot is a well-known Drupal house.  Not only are they talented, they are very generous too!  After seeing a beautiful picture of Dries Buytaert's baby posing in a Lullabot onesie, I just had to get one for my sister (due in June).  Although she has no idea "what a Lullabot is", she was very happy to receive a onesie with a "lullaby singing robot" on the front.  Thanks again to the Lullabot team for spre

Erich, Seth, Ben, Sharon, Susan, Ray & Mike attended Drupalcon this year. I am so proud of all that my team has accomplished with our greenopolis.com project.

"Context" Disscussed at Drupalcon 2008

Drupalcon Boston 2008Moving from traditional CMSs to Drupal, we were faced with a challenge - where do pages/blocks "live". In many other CMSs, the site is set up with a folder structure, so breadcrumbs and active navigation are obvious. However, in Drupal, everything lives at the top level.

The Evolution of a Career

They say that hindsight is 20/20. And it is true! If I look at the choices I made in high school, it is now apparent that I was destined for a career in Web Development. While picking my free electives, I exhausted all of the computer courses. AutoCad, Animation and Robotics. There were no "internet" courses as usage was not publicly adopted yet. I didn't even have an email address. But, I was setting the groundwork for a lifetime of "work" that feels more like "play".

Widgets

This is a widget built for our new site at work:

Part 1 Beta Launched

Wow!  After a couple intense weeks, my company launched part 1 of the beta release.  There is a small group of people testing the site for usability and bugs.  We know of a couple tweaks that will be needed, but come Monday, we will also have to be focusing on part 2 of the beta release.  Every couple weeks, we will be unveiling another part of the site.  This really has the potential to be the largest Drupal project out there.

Up To My Eyeballs in Drupal

I just wanted to share some useful links for those starting out with drupal.

I know I have said that I will write more about my experiences.... I promise I will.
